I never knew my verbosity went this far

  • Dec. 2nd, 2009 at 4:14 PM
So. Apparently, I have written so many fics that I can't fit them all in one sticky post. For some reason, this makes me depressed, maybe because of my inability to complete any of the novels I've been meaning to write for years (though! I'm super excited about the one I'm sort-of-kind-of working on! It's this Southern Gothic fantasy thing with ghosts and roadtrips and cousins and probably Civil War reenactors. And crazy, scary trees. Because I'm like that).

So I'm working on overhauling my Master List of Fics, and I'm thinking of putting drabbles and crossovers together in one post. Though I fear this will lead to them being neglected.

Anyways, because I should be working my Yuletide fic, and because I'm feeling kind of blah because it's dark and rainy and generally nasty outside, I need something to distract me.

So! Drabbles. Ficlets. Whatever you want to call them. I'm offering. Give me a fandom, a character/pairing, and a prompt. And this time, no Buffyverse stuff, please? Unless it's a crossover. Then it's acceptable. Things tend to skew heavily Buffy-wards with my flist, which is no surprise, but I want to branch out a bit right now.

Aaaand...GO!

Christmas List!

  • Dec. 2nd, 2009 at 9:54 AM
You know that meme that goes around at the holidays every year where you list the things you want in case someone on your flist can make one of them happen? I've never done it before, because I always felt like that would mean I was selfish and/or greedy, even though I don't think anyone else is when they do it (my issues , let me show you them).

But! I decided to do it this year, only listing things that won't cost anyone any money (only time), just creative/fannish things. Also, my birthday is January 4th, so if someone wanted to combine....And these are standing requests--if next September you find yourself bored and want to come up with something, I will not complain.

And y'all should do it, too, in case I can write something you'd like. Mine would probably be late (Yuletide, y'all!), but still, I'd love to see your prompts!

Because really, I guess this is more a list of prompts than anything. If one inspires you, run with it! Otherwise, ignore this completely! 'Kay? Kay.

How many people have watched the never aired "Epitath One" on disc 4 of the first season dvd set?

How many people would have TOTALLY watched the show this could have been the start of????

I would have been IN LOVE with this show.

Curious of anyone else's thoughts on this.

I'm saving up for a rainy day...

  • Dec. 1st, 2009 at 4:36 PM
I'm feeling pretty good about writing right now. I've actually made some progress lately and the muse seems to be pretty congenial at the moment. However, I'm doing this meme so that when the dark days come (and they will come) and I think that I can't write worth anything and that I'll never finish anything ever again, I'll be able to visit this thread and be reminded that hey! You like me! You really like me! I have pathologically low self-esteem, people. Humor me, and I'll return the favor.

THE FANFICTION LOVE MEME

Go forth and do likewise.

Fic: Love and Blackmail (3/3)

  • Nov. 30th, 2009 at 9:29 PM
Yes, that's right! It's complete! *dances with glee*

But before we get to the actual chapter, I need to ask a question. I hate to be a tease about this, but I'm considering writing a sequel to this story. Starring Dawn and a certain someone who may be more than he seems (also, probably with some Andrew and Lessie love. Because I love them). I just wanted to know if anyone would be interested in reading such a story. It would probably be very plotty, focused on Dawn's Keyness and the Immortal's backstory, as well as on their romance....There probably wouldn't be much Buffy and Spike (though I'd be positively shocked if they didn't show up for at least a few cameos), either.

Again, I'm not positive that I'm going to do it, and if I do, it might be quite some time before I get around to it, as I have other obligations that are quite time-consuming.

So my question is three-pronged: A) Would your read it, B) Would you read it even if I don't actually write it for a while, and C) Would those of you who don't watch my journal like for me to notify you via PM should I ever actually post said story.

Let me know! Now, on to the story!

Title: Love and Blackmail
Fandom: Buffyverse
Written for: [info]good__evil's Art-a-Thon
Rating: PG-13
Timeline: post-"Not Fade Away"
Characters/Pairings: Dawn, Buffy/Spike, Andrew, the Immortal, OC Slayer
Warnings: Dawn worship. You heard me.
Installment: Three of three.
A/N: Title and summary quote come from "The Pomegranate" by Eavan Boland, one of my favorite poets. Artwork by the talented [info]amyxaphania. And many, many thanks to [info]angearia for enthusiasm, punishment ideas (you are as brilliantly devious as Dawn), and major help in revamping (heh!) the epilogue. I honestly couldn't have done it without you.
Summary: "Love and blackmail are the gist of it." Dawn knows exactly what her sister needs in order to move on after Sunnydale--and exactly how to make it happen.

Previous chapters here and here.

Let's Tie the Knot (Logan/Veronica) NC-17

  • Nov. 30th, 2009 at 5:15 PM

Title: Let’s Tie the Knot
Author: [info]celtic_flicka
Characters: Logan/Veronica
Word Count: ~2,800
Rating: NC-17 (Just sex, maybe a little cursing. It’s smutty fluff! Fluffy smut!)
Summary: Veronica still has the power to surprise Logan.
Spoilers: Nothing specific, but this takes place a few years after s3.
Disclaimer: If Rob Thomas lets me borrow them, they will be returned in their current pristine condition.
Note 1: This was written for the vmfic_gameon Challenge Round #3: Word Table Challenge. I used 15 of the 25 words: hungry, overeager, stiff, inferiority, contortionist, emasculate, rental, idiot, misfortune, friction, honor, Saturday, bells, tonight, stockings. I’m a little disappointed in myself that I couldn’t figure out how to work in proclivity or finale, since it’s a smutfic and all.
Note 2: Many thanks to [info]zaftig_darling for being my beta!

Um, China, what do you think you're doing?

  • Nov. 30th, 2009 at 7:13 PM
So I started watching the mainland China version of HYD today (even though I haven't even gotten past ep 5 of the Korean one), and I have a few comments to make.

1.) Such TERRIBLE taste in cars, mainguy! Seriously?
2.) Okay, why is the Hua Ze Lei/Hanazawa Rui character so ugly? And the Dao Ming Si/Doumyouji Tsukasa character so attractive? Has the world flipped on its head or something?
3.) Also, why all the superfluous action at the very beginning? It took me three episodes to figure out who was who -- especially since the secondary ringleader got punched in what, the very first episode? Were they trying to confuse me on purpose?
4.) The whole point of THE punch (which, you know, isn't even that impressive since it's the second punch she's thrown so far, so I don't even know if it's supposed to be THE punch) is that's righteous and justified -- not the result of a mistaken impression on HER part.
5.) She's not supposed to be unreasonable and mean. This is kind of the same argument as above, but she's supposed to be the embodiment of justice, not a whiny brat. (Which, sometimes she acts righteously, and sometimes she's just being silly.)
6.) Um, why all the petty pranks? I'm still not sure why they would go to great lengths to unscrew the wheels of a car, say, and not simply key the car, puncture the tires, and call it a day? It shouldn't be this hard to get expelled.

I swear, I'm not sure I can handle this show. The HYD franchise is usually a little slapstick-y and hijinks-y for my taste which it makes up for with all the satisfying stuff later on, but I'm not sure about this version ... You're officially on probation, 流星雨!
Title: Sunnydale, 1986
Author: Ersatz Fiction
Fandom: Veronica Mars/Buffy crossover
Word Count: 1,215
Rating:PG-13

Mayor Wilkins, Keith Mars, surprise cameo

Disclaimer: I do not own any of these characters, they are the property of Mr Whedon and Mr Thomas.
Warning: None
Summery:
Every once in a while, someone in Sunnydale takes notice to what happens at night.
AN: Written for the crossover challenge at[info]whedonland and an experiment in suspense.

Oh, I love the Quileute Tribe so hard right now. So. Hard. The snark is strong with this one.

Also, the comments are so full of oblivious fail that it makes me want to spend the rest of my life *headdesk*ing.

Via deadbrowalking. 'Cause they're awesome.

Also, screw you, spell check. That so is how you spell Quileute!
